C rimson Sweet watermelons are a delicious and attractive and perhaps one of the best tasting large melons available. With the right conditions even in the UK Crimson Sweet can weigh in at up to 11kg. Bred in the 1960s this variety has many disease resistant traits; making growing Crimson Sweet melons relatively easy. The skin is the classic melon stripes in dark and light green with deeply red flesh.
Melons require high temperatures and humidity. In all but the very warmest areas cultivation is most successful in a greenhouse, or under cover of a cold frame or cloche when growing melons in the UK.
