Nic's pick of the month: Grow Your Own Christmas Dinner
Geums are firm favourites in herbaceous borders, but they also work well in larger rock gardens, developing into mounds of neat, dense foliage. Mrs Bradshawis a popular variety in garden centres, but now you can grow it from seed a thome too. This variety produces semi-double red flowers, in contrast with fresh green foliage, from June to September. For best results, grow Mrs Bradshaw in a cooler part of the garden, in well-drained soil.
Flowers in its second year. Divide plants every two to three years.
